I've been thinking about the variety box. Looks like a great value. After hearing your experience, I will start saving my allowance ;-)

I love Hedgeapple! Started small, with some ground beef and a couple steaks, but went back last fall for a variety box to fill up the freezer. It had lots of different cuts, and things I had no idea what to do with like roasts, but it was the end of CSA season, and I needed a new challenge. I am not very good at cooking meat (former vegetarian and all), but it is really hard to mess up the Hedgeapple beef. The best thing in our big box was the filet mignon (just grilled it with a little olive oil, salt and pepper--perfection!), although my husband, who prefers quantity, was partial to the T-bone. Great resource for local beef - it is very rare that I buy beef at the supermarket at all now. Thanks for sharing!
