I think your insight about hating practice is a good one. I would add that you need to find something that you actually enjoy doing. There are lots of recreation opps in the city of Frederick. Everything from fencing to volleyball to hiking clubs. (And yes, Kevin and I took a series of fencing classes many years ago. It was fun...and very competitive.)
