Plans are simple for my two honeys (wife and daughter):

Steaks (nothing says love better than red meat)
Wine (at least for one of my honeys)
Dark, dark chocolate

And probably a little family game-time fun.

Hallmark is not invited to our Valentine's Family Time!

We usually spend our Valentine's Day at home - mostly because as wonderful as my husband is, he's just not romantic. At all.

This year though, the whole family has been invited to a Chinese New Year celebration, which takes a little bit of the pressure off. Phew!

I like the family idea. When my kids were at home I always did a Valentine's basket for each of them -- chocolates and little gifts.

I wanted to send my son at school in Florida a hand-made goodies basket, but the weather squashed that plan!

OOOH! Fondue! I love that idea. Well, to me, cheese makes everything better. I saw this recipe last year http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Gruyere-and-Cider-Fondue-351555 and wanted to try it but it may be a bit strong for Little J. Are you doing just the one with cheese or keep the theme and have a dessert one, too? For the main one I'd maybe do some steak, chicken (chicken nuggets?), crab and some sliced veggies - bell peppers, zucchini - an array of colors, textures and taste. Make it visually appealing but also tasty. Like I said, I like cheese. For dessert you could do dipping chocolate with brownie bites, maybe some pound cake? I hear that's really good. Do you have a little bunsen burner? You could cook the meat over that and then dip it in the fondue.

We're going to attempt to leave the homestead and go down to the ILs out near Culpeper. We usually can get in dinner and a movie but with the threat of more snow we'll have to cut our trip short. But I get to go to Wegmans and pick up a lemon meringue for Grandma's 80th. Any time I get to go to Wegmans it's a celebration. :0)

Have fun with the fondue and let us know how it turns out!
