Nice shots! Now you just need to add the "tricks" -- blocks in the soup to bring the good stuff to the top, the dish detergent to coat the meats, shaving cream frosting...I actually have done some food shoots and it's sad, but the "real" stuff just isn't at "pretty" or durable under lights as the plates that are set up just for pictures. It's funny, though, if an unknowing intern tries to eat the food when the shoot is done ;-)...

Congratulations on starting your adventures in food photography. One thing that I have learned/learnt is that food photography can be heck of a challenging thing. Its not just photography that you have to worry about. There is art direction, food styling getting the freshest veggies... But with practice, I have found that mine has improved.

Best of luck with your adventures.

Food photography is so tricky, but it looks like you did a great job on your first outing! Want to see some beautiful stuff from some pros, along with tips? Check out any (and all) of these blogs. They were all at BlogHer Food and lectured on the photo track: www.mattbites.com, http://www.mytartelette.com/, and http://www.whiteonricecouple.com/. I'm thinking of going to BlogHer Food '10 just for photo lessons. Want to join me?

Wait - there's one more: http://blog.ruhlman.com/food-photography

Looking forward to seeing many more great food pics!
